Hello Families!
While we were at the park a couple of days ago, I noticed 2 butterflies together on a tree trunk near the bench where I was sitting. They blended in so well I wouldn't have even noticed them if they hadn't fluttered around for a few seconds and landed again. As I looked, closer, I noticed there were dozens of these butterflies all over the this tree! It was so intriguing I couldn't stop thinking about them and did a little research to find out what kind they were. I discovered they are called Hackberry Butterflies, and their only host plant is a Hackberry tree. The child-like curiosity triggered within me that day reminds me of the importance of slowing down, taking in my surroundings, and appreciating the small, simple wonders of our beautiful world. Hi, I'm Stephanie! Two years ago I gave birth to my miracle baby and made the choice to leave my 9-year teaching career with the Wichita Public Schools to stay home with him. Although I love being at home with him, I still have a desire to serve the kids and families of Wichita, and when I found out about Macaroni Kid, it seemed like the perfect way to stay connected to the community I love.
I grew up in Wichita, and I am thrilled to have this opportunity to highlight all the positive things Wichita has to offer families. We truly have so many wonderful things going on here.
I look forward to partnering with local families, businesses and organizations to build an inclusive, dynamic and diverse calendar of events that meets the needs and interests of ALL of our families.
